Snapshot is Here: A Faster Way to Scout Opponents in Counter-Strike
Preparing for competitive Counter-Strike matches often means spending hours scrubbing through demos just to answer basic questions about how your opponents play. Where do they default? How do setups change by round type? Which areas are consistently contested?
Snapshot is a new beta feature within CounterStrat that solves this by giving teams a high-level tactical overview of opponent behavior. Instead of watching rounds one by one, Snapshot overlays data from multiple demos and rounds at once, letting patterns emerge instantly.
What is Snapshot?
Snapshot is a scouting and preparation tool for competitive teams.
It aggregates data across many rounds and matches, then displays it together on the map. This makes it easy to see where opponents prefer to play, how they structure rounds, and how tendencies shift based on context.
Snapshot lives inside CounterScout as its own dedicated tab and is designed to complement the rest of CounterStrat’s opponent-analysis tools. The goal is simple: help teams understand opponents faster, so more time can be spent actually preparing for your matches on the server.
What you can do with Snapshot
Snapshot is currently available as a beta MVP, but it’s already usable for real match prep.
Today, Snapshot lets you:
- Overlay player positions from many rounds at once
- Filter by round type to separate different buy scenarios
- Filter by individual players
- Filter by team side (T or CT)
- Adjust the time window within a round to focus on early, mid, or late-round behavior
These filters make it easy to answer questions like:
- Where does this team usually play on CT gun rounds?
- Do they run the same pistol strat?
- Which areas are consistently controlled early?
- How aggressive is a specific player in the opening seconds?
Example: CT-side player on full-buy rounds within the first 20 seconds of the round starting
Instead of relying on memory from demo reviews, Snapshot turns these tendencies into something you can see immediately.
⚠️ Disclaimer: Snapshot is an actively evolving feature. During this beta phase, things may change, improve, or occasionally break as we iterate.
What’s planned for the future
What we are releasing today is just the beginning; We’re actively working on expanding it with additional metrics and higher-level insights, including:
- Combat data like kills and deaths
- Utility usage
- Data summaries, such as common bomb plant locations or frequently contested areas
Long-term, Snapshot will grow beyond raw positioning into a tool that helps explain the entire picture, not just the basics. As with the rest of CounterStrat, it will continue to improve over time.
Snapshot is WIP and we want your feedback
Snapshot is being built specifically for competitive players and teams, and this beta phase is critical to shaping what comes next.
If something feels confusing, incomplete, or missing, or if there’s a feature that would make Snapshot significantly more useful for your prep, we want to hear about it.
Try Snapshot, use it in real prep, and send feedback. That input directly influences how Snapshot evolves.
